Where The Jobs Are….New York City
If you think the job market is better in NYC, you are correct. The overall unemployment rate in the U.S. fluctuates between 8.7-8.8% and in New York state it is 7.9%. (Best in the country is North Dakota – 3.3%).
And in April 2011, 1 out of every 5 new jobs created was in New York. In addition to new positions being created in the medical and educational fields, the hospitality industry saw an increase of 2.9% or almost 23,000 jobs.
Restaurants & hotels are increasingly optimistic about the summer tourism season and this means higher hotel room rates as well as crowded streets and stores.
