It’s no secret to those in media that the upfront market is warming up. In less than two weeks, the broadcast networks will present their upfront presentations in NYC, and the season will officially be off and running.
An article in MediaDailyNews, Upfront: 2010 Scatter Predictions Soar, is predicting that upfront estimates could see as much as 20% or more increases in broadcast prime. This is a significant change from last year’s upfront pricing declines when the economy was showing signs worse for wear.
Not only is the upfront market looking healthier, but the current scatter market shows increases of 20-30% over 2009’s upfront pricing. All positive signs for networks, though could lead to tougher negotiations with agencies. And all positive signs that we are in a more stable economy.
