July Jobs Report Better Than Anticipated

The stock market continues to drop, lay-offs are increasing and there is a general mood of gloom and doom at least on the TV Talk Shows. However ADP (payroll service) reported over 114,000 people were added to payroll in July 2011 – more than anticipated or forecast.
Many of the jobs added were in small to mid-sized businesses which continue to fuel the recovery. And positions in media are primarily focused on digital with a never-ending demand for talent.
Our candidates are receiving multiple offers and many digital professionals are transitioning from agency positions to sales. It will be interesting to watch the ups and downs of the next few months as the economy tries to stabilize after the debt discussions. However it is important for consumer spending to increase in order for our industry to thrive.
