Hawks Win! Chicago Celebrates!
Wednesday night, The Chicago Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup. This was the first time in 49 years that the Black Hawks have won the cup. Today the city of Chicago celebrated this historic event with a parade.
The parade route was in front of my office. I was able to watch the crowds grow and even saw the beginning of the parade from my office window. But then, I could not keep watching from afar, I had to be a part of the celebration. And a celebration it was! The excitement in the air was contagious. There were people every where…lining the street, on top of buildings and bus stops, hanging out of windows, etc. It didn’t matter if you were a fan of the Hawks or of hockey, you couldn’t help but smile and cheer and watch with exhilaration. It was something to see. It truly is amazing how a championship team can create excitement and unite a city. What a wonderful way to kick off a weekend.
