Economic Fears Ease

By In Uncategorized On September 10, 2010

A few weeks ago most media outlets were reporting that the US economy could “double-dip” and Americans could be facing another economic slump before we can even get out of the one we’re in.  But it appears that while the economy is not roaring full steam ahead, it is still showing signs of growth.

Some data to support that…

  • Far fewer people applied for unemployment last week, suggesting that layoffs may finally be easing
  • Hiring by private companies during the summer months actually increased more than expected
  • Gas prices remain low and shopper discounts continue to grow to keep people coming into the stores

In our industry we have seen a very strong summer with the number of job openings that have come our way.  Our strongest markets have been Chicago, New York, Dallas and Boston, and our agency partners are doing a lot to lure the top talent, such as offering relocation packages.

While the economy continues to self medicate, we continue to work on many job openings and all we can do is remain positive.  For now, we have many openings looking for great media talent, and that is all we can ask for.
