American Cars – Making a Comeback

A few years ago the American automotive industry was in decline and foreign cars were more desirable. We have experienced a change in buying habits and perception and most importantly this turn-around is helping generate jobs.
The Big Three – Ford, GM and Chrysler – are now selling cars and re-hiring laid off works and revamping plants to produce energy efficient automobiles. And although the state of Michigan still has a high unemployment rate (10.3%), it is down from the high of 14.1% in 2009.
Although we have a long way to go and the recession in the Midwest is far from over, the efforts we made in this country to save the automotive industry have paid off. And an article in the NYTIMES (5/19/2011) said we are approaching a “manufacturing renaissance.”
Advertising & Media companies are once again hiring in Detroit – the demand for digital talent is as strong as elsewhere in the U.S.
