November 2012 – 7.7% Unemployment
The November 2012 unemployment numbers were released today to much excitement. In spite of Hurricane Sandy and the gloom and doom of Fiscal Cliff discussions, 147,000 jobs were created.
An early Thanksgiving Holiday with retail hiring helped as well as auto sales and a rebound in real estate. 7.7% is the lowest number since December 2008 and there is a sense of momentum going into 2013.
However there still remains a disconnect between available jobs and unemployed workers. Today’s WSJ (12/7/2012) has a great article on one city in Indiana where there are jobs and limited qualified candidates. And we continue to experience a lack of potential candidates for specific positions in advertising/media.
As we approach the new year, we look forward to matching our candidates with positions that are a good fit with skills and experience.
